Speedometer Issue

I have a 85 300D. Just pulled the instrument cluster to fix lights and paint needles. The speedometer has always been about 6-8 mph off (going 46 when it reads 40. Howver, when I reinstalled the cluster, the sppedometer did not move for a while, then about 8 miles out, it went to 35 and stopped. Did not go up or down regardless of my speed. Any suggestions as what I shouel do next. By the way, painting the needles with Testors orange model paint was easy and looks great.

It sounds like the speedo cable was incorrectly or loosely attached, better hope the cable didnt snap - weakest point is just behind the collar.

Whatever you do DO NOT move the speedo needle by hand you will ruin it.
