Where is the answer here?

I noticed a while back that my leftside "high beam" was out. So I stuck in a headlight from the parts car, but still no light. Checked the circuit with the test light and it is dead. In the fuse box I see that MB has a fuse for each headlight, fuse #13 I believe is marked for left high beam and high beam indicator. The fuse seems to be OK, with no power on either side of it. It gets rather difficult to check further back then that. Is my headlight switch the culprit. This is the second circuit on this great little car that has suddenly taken all its electrons and just vanished into thin air. My starting circuit did the same and I replaced the whole switch, but still it would not engage the starter. I resolved that problem by installing a push button switch just to the left of the ignition. It works well, but of course I do not have a nuetral safety switch, which I do worry about. Please let me hear your ideas. Thanks

Junque,

Same happened to me. Its probably corrosion on the ends of the fuse. Clean the ends of the fuse and the terminal where the fuse contacts it.

This is one place where MB could improve their quality by using chrome plated brass fuses like the ones in American cars. I have never seen one of them corrode.

Well, I will try that again, but!

As I mentioned the circuit seems dead on both sides of the fuse. With the sharp ended probe on the simple circuit tester, I would think if it was just corrosion at that point I would have got through it. Perhaps I didn't go back far enough. The car by the way is my 85 W123 300 Turbo. Thanks

Junque,

Did you read voltage on the other headlight fuse terminals in the fuse box? If you did, I don't think it would be a bad headlight switch.

It sounded so much like the problem I had, I was sure it was corrosion on the fuse end.
