Sorry guys had to mark my 1000th post here in the diesel forum. Now off to unfreeze my door locks [damn snow].

Have you seen those little key-fob things that have a flashlight and a heated metal probe to de-ice the lock? Saw one advertised the other day for about $3 and wondered if they work.

Really, never heard of those. Mine arn't too bad, a hot sponge around the tumbler housing for 30 seconds worked fine.

cant you just hold a lighter under a spare valet keyso it heats up and stick it in and try that?

I'm going to let it thaw in the garage and spray some WD40 in there to displace and water that is freezing up. I wonder what the local auto parts store has to cure this problem.

don't use oil....it attracts dust and dirt and will gum up the tumblers in time....or wear them prematurely....light dry heat (hairdrier) is better and safer.
