Question 300D Custom Noise Insulation for Firewall

I know a while back someone had a blanket sort of thing that was made to be put between the engine and firewall of 123 series cars. This item sold for about 75 bucks, but that was a while ago. After using the search function here, the only link I found for this product is now dead. It's not offered through any catalog that I can find, just a custom item some small time guy was making, but it looked like it might work.

Anyone either have one of these insulators or know where to get one? I'm stumped.

Do those things really work, anyway? I'd like to find something to cut down on the interior noise of my 300CD.

Thanks

I have one of those noise blankets from Ebay. Doesn't seem to make much difference around town but a little better on the highway and my hood pad is really shot. Have no idea where you would get one but keep an eye on Ebay as they may pop up again. RT

Dynamat

Hey, thanks, I've heard Dynamat works wonders from car stereo enthisiasts, so I guess it stands to reason that it would be good for general noise insulation. Heard it's expensive though, and kind of a pain to install. Anyone have any experience with this application?

While I agree with the posts that dynamat is superior for noise reduction actually applying it to the firewall and transmission tunnel will be a huge pain in the a$$. I suppose that if the engine and transmission were out of the car then you might as well go ahead and do it. However installing the sound blanket takes less than 30 seconds and works reasonably well for @$50. RT

I meant doing it from inside the car....but yes you could also do it from outside too...getting the center console out I agree would be a big PITA.
