UK Diesel sought........

Hi,

Appreciative of the primarily U.S membership of these forums, i thought i would nonetheless see whether there are any U.K based Mercedes for sale.....

I've been looking for 2 months, for either a W123 or W124 estate. During this time, i've only found two, both of dubious quality.

I can find Dinos, Vintage Bentleys and DB3S with relative abundance! Surely someone can point me in a fruitful direction!

Cheers

Crawf

Welcome

Hi and welcome I am from the UK and if I ever return i will bring a us spec car over and scrap a rusted out RHD model for all the right hand steering and dash etc.

I drove a 300D back in the 80's and that started my love of all things diesel, when i came here to the US it was love at first sight with a 300SD.

In answer to your question if I were you I would look at getting one from south Africa the UK magazine Practical Classics ran some articles on bringing home some rust free RHD cars (they also drive on the left).

Cheers chaps!

Delighted to have even got replies, as i thought it was a bit of a shot in the dark!

Looked to see if ebay had a south african branch, but they don't. Guess its now a matter of country-specific googling. However, i'm not sure i this will be economic for shipping. Probably clearer cut for un-rusted big heallys etc!

Will also google for the yahoo biodiesel group......

The first is manual, and a saloon - much of the need to run biodiesel stems from the high milage i will be doing with the car loaded up with cumbersome items.

The second is a 200, which are all manual, but which looks set to fail its MOT. I've not driven one, but have been advised they are astonishingly slow!

Of course, don't want to make the impression i'm too picky!

Incidently, cheers for calling me squire!

That's their term for a sedan. Estate is a wagon.

Ahoy! Yeah, I do not recall seeing too many in that region for purchase. I remember someone looking at one there a while ago, but it had shattered windscreens (windshield) and probably not worth the restoration process.

Someone up there a while back was boasting about a perfect car in their area for sale, but frankly, I thought it was way overpriced for an enjoyable purchase. They were wailing when someone happened to it. Oh well.

Good luck with your search.
