It is not against the law to buy from a dealer...
Repair part was not available from the MB dealer in Lafayette, In.
Parts man said no part was available to repair it other than the magnet.
Monovalve was available at a cost of $196.oo.
I could have called a dealer in Indy but chose FastLane because of this site.

Thanks BHD.
I will order other parts next time to beat the shipping charges!

Thanks for the reply. I have found the dealer to be reasonable on some items, and faster too.

BTW, glad you got your heat fixed.

I tried a couple of online "dummy" orders and the ground shipping charge came up as $7.19 to several different "lower 48" locations. Looks like maybe you were charged for Second Day Air.

Lightbulb exhaust flex pipe life extender...

Split in flex pipe is about half way down pipe ,1/4 inch wide and about 2 inches around the circumference of the pipe.
Looks too wide for JB weld.

I've resorted to some patching of the exhaust in the past.....

I had good results using muffler patch putty, sheet metal and radiator clamps!

Clean the area of the split then put the muffler putty on the split and around the whole pipe in the split area, extending up and down along the flex pipe a-wayz. Support the exhaust system so the crack closes some then wrapping the pipe with a piece of sheet metal (I used stainless). The sheet metal should wrap the O.D. of the flex pipe and extend a couple inches either side of the split and overlap itself almost an inch. The uncured putty should help seal the split and help seal the sheet metal to the pipe and my squish out a little. Finally, I clamped the sheet metal patch around the flex pipe using large radiator clamps.

Other creative patches involved soup cans and an end of a gallon paint can, (I could elaborate). That's all fine on the straighter sections... For the bent section before the rear muffler, I found a patch kit where you wrap the pipe with a fabric soaked in an apoxy then wrapped the patch with wire. Oh yes there was much laughter when the complete system was finally replaced about 2 years later...

Sounds hack but will buy time while saving up the $ or if you want to prove something. Remember, patching the flex section will reduce the flexibility and cause more movement of the exhaust. So it really is a temporary solution. If the rest of the exhaust system is great or really bad, bite the bullet and replace the part(s). Aftermarket is adequate--Bosal?.
