Cold start 98 E300

Lately at night and in the mornings it's been 25-35F. On cold start, the car will fire right up, but randomly miss on a cylinder or two for a minute while sitting there. If I just take off immidately it's fine as it warms up quicker.

As stated by an earlier post, I have really bad injector knock and need my injectors serviced - do you think this problem is related?

Easy stuff maybe. Is it possible you just have one bad glow plug? When's the last time they were checked/replaced?

Glow plug indicator works fine.. and I am under the assumption my car will tell me if I have a bad glow plug in the display.

Do the newer models tell you if only one is bad? I know on my model it may take two or three for the indicator light to go out.

I don't know if the glow plug light is a reliable indicator of a bad glow plug. I recommend that you do a resistance test on your glow plugs using a multimeter. It only takes a minute.

Check the fuel lines for air bubbles. My car did the same thing...over time the problem became much worse.

What I do on mine, even after the glow light goes out after a few seconds, I still let it sit in the "pre-glow" position for another 10 or so seconds. maybe longer depending on the temperature before cranking. I've found my car to start up smoother and easier after doing this. AS we know even though the lamp goes out, the glow plugs are still glowing for some time even after started.... TurboD, I know you know that

I agree, on my 617 turbo the light doesn't tell you until you lose 2 or more GPs. I can usually tell if I have one bad GP because it will miss on one cylinder for the first few seconds after a cold start.

He's talking about a '98 though. On my '99, same engine, one bad plug and the glow plug trouble light goes on.
