It's a 16+K car, unlike the 45K (new) cost of my 83 300TDt so it's a bit
noisy (perhaps), basic inside, remember 16K versus 45K. If you want one, then move up here to canada. Otherwise write those letters to MB USA.

water cooled diesel, watching folks find the engine is always fun (or try to find). Also has fan in back with engine for intercooler and to cool down turbo after shutoff.

This Canadian website has *lots* of forum postings on smart in Canada http://www.mbcanada.com/forum

The owner of Birmingham Motors here in Michigan is working on the legal issues with importing them, If he's successful I will probably end up posting a friendly "ad / notification" here.

Too small for my tastes. An E class is about as small as I go.

I'd be afraid of an H2 squishing me. Their are still to many massive trucks on the road in this country for little cars like that.

after blazing around the internet at the speed of dial-up to look at some more Smart info, I've concluded that I would rock a Smart roadster with the diesel engine - that'd be a cool car to putz around it. I'm not sure about the 4seater or the 2seat hardtop - styling is too far out for me.
However $16k (if thats the price) its pretty high...

That engine is way too small for the car and the MPG is not that impressive for such a small car, with a bigger engine they would get more performance MPG and 140km top speed is not that great either.
I don't like it or dislike it, for that price I would personaly go for a used Ghetta (but my opinion is biased)
One thing it has going, is a head turner

I've touched a couple (in germany) Saw where they were made....TON's of them there! Also, I saw plenty of them cruising around the cities and even going down the autobahn....they can move....I saw some doing at least 90-105ish......of course in our C220cdi we left them in the dust.
