Cheapo Glow Plugs not Worth it!
I think I've seen this echoed several times, but I thought I'd just take a moment to repeat that it's not worth saving $5 by buying the $4.99 Autolite GlowPlugs at Advance...... I got less than two months out of two of them and couldn't start my car the other morning. Two new Bosch plugs at $9.95 ea. and it's just amazing how easily it started. Just turned the key at 20F and it kicked right over! Still got the cheezy ones in cylinders 1, 2, and 5 though. We'll see how the rest of the winter goes!

I think I'll be picking up 4 of dem 8006 Bosch Glow Plugs Just In Case! and I'm testing the block heater for the first time now (it's 17 here in Chi-town). If I can get her started- she gets a nice big drink of Rotella Synthetic too.

LOL, Ben, I learned the same lesson the same hard way!
NEVER BUY AUTOLITE. They are worse than useless. After buying 3 autolite glow plugs and having them all go bad within 3 months, I learned from a friend of mine who is active in the Powerstroke community that they use "Autolite" as a curse word now, it is synonomous with crap or *****. Example: While scraping congealed road grime, grease and brake dust off your wheels with a toilet brush, you might be heard to say, "Damn, this autolite is all over my wheels!" However, I've had good luck with the Bosch 80006 plugs. They are relatively inexpensive, and seem pretty reliable. peace, sam

Autolite are USELESS. I had to replace all 6 in the SDL a few weeks ago. Sorry stuff. Buru or Bosch.
