Block drain on a 300 Turbo ?

Anyone tell me where the block drain is located on a 300 turbo diesel ?

Its there, tucked up under the manifolds/turbo. Use the search and you'll find a thread that has a pic with the manifolds off.

Actually, looking won't help. You can't see it unless you already know where it is. Best way to search for it is to cram your left arm between the heater pipe (that runs back from the aux water pump) and the frame rail with your hand toward the block. You will be pointing to the general area, but unless you are stickman you will not touch it. You might try this with a 19mm socket on a short extendo and you may be able to snag it.

I admit I've only done it on a 126, but it's really not that hard. I find it pretty easy to see and reach from underneath, and there's no law against using a little telescoping mirror. There are several other fasteners on the car that are tougher to get at, but still doable without having a hissy.

and if you do it from under the car do remember to close your eyes and turn your head....I won't mention names but someone else got an eyefull and then some when the plug came out recently doing a citric acid flush.....and you don't want that stuff in your eyes.

And when you do find it and remove it...paint it day-glo orange for next time.

I used the testors orange from my cluster needle rehab for paintijg the diff plugs...They're easy to see and get to but I like the idea...I'll give the block drain the same treatent when I get to it....
