Wrecked my car today - probably totalled

I got off of work early and some lady was making a left turn through an intersection, failed to yield, and hit me as I was proceeding through on a green light. She hit the front left corner of my car. No one was hurt. At a minimum I need a whole new front clip. Both front fenders, hood and bumper are mangled. I'm certain the damage will exceed the car's value. I just spent several thousand dollars on the car the past two years rebuilding the suspension, front end, a/c, timing chain, radiator and many, many other things. This is a sad day. I really thought I would have had this car at least 5 more years. RIP '85 300D.

I need a new benz now. I'm either going to get one just like the one I had or a 210 chassis diesel. I don't know which but I need to buy another within the week.

weird how the arrow turned green just as the other light was just about to turn red

if you do part anything.. i just need one measly part for the glove box.. ya know the striker.. mine ist kaputt

That sucks, I know that feeling, although I've never wrecked an MB.

Good that no body's are hurt.

Get another and move on.

What you need to do is find someone who will give a good appraisal on a 1985 300D, insurance companies don't know the REAL value of these cars and are quick to total them. If there isn't frame damage, or damage to the engine, or the front end, then I'd try to have it fixed. Fight the insurance company if they total it.

If you can get the car AND the insurance $, the '85 model year has quite a few "year specific" items, as I'm sure you know. I'm sure someone would like the tranny since it is year specific, as well as turbo, injection pump, computer, etc......
Wish you were closer to DFW, and by the way, I am truly sorry about your car, but I'm glad you're alright!

Here are some pictures from the richmond get together. Mines is the light blue one on the far right in each picture. I never thought I would feel so sad about losing the car but I do. But life goes on.

Bummer

Sorry for your loss, I have an 1985 280 TE Euro station wagon with a bad motor. I assume it would work as a parts car for you, if that would help. No title.

Thanks, if I had the time I would probably buy the car back and hunt around junkyards for a replacement front end. The problem is that I'm starting a new job in two weeks and will be moving away and won't have any time for such an endeavor - hence the need to get another car within the week.

Sorry to hear about the loss.
