Well, I got some work ahead for me...'83 300D
Here it goes....I knew my rear pads were at about 1/8 when I put the winters on last week..figured I would order parts this week and do them....well noticed the tell tale rust color on the recently painted left rear wheel this morning...
Pulled the rear brakes tonight and found the rear inner pad had gone metal on metal trashing the rotor...also had one hell of a time getting the piston to recess..took almost an hour before it went pop and moved...put on cheap $15 set of pads to get me a few days till parts get ordered and show up...going to have to do rear rotors, pads, and rebuilt calipers...guess I will do Emergency brake shoes while I have it appart...this bites I seriously was not expecting this to happen...left side inner and outer both had worn far worse than the right side did. Point I wish to make is this can happen without any warning on cars that appear to be and are well maintained....and a good thing for everyone to check befre the REAL winter weather sets in to stay for a while.

Again...good timing. Just had my first inspection today...been driving a lot at night lately but anyway we did notice that there was not much left of the pads front and rear, never knew there was a seperate set for emergency brakes but that's nice to know...when it stops raining, after I do the trans fluid and rear oil, but before I do the wastegate and after I get to getting a vacuum gauge and checking the vac system, and just before I adjust the vac modulator---if necessary---yet after I try again finding the cause of interior precipitation which is just getting old...oh yeah, and before I get some new glow plugs but if my new ignition switch (electrical part) ever gets here it will be after that...what were you talking about again...oh yeah, EGR, found it!! I'm glad I enjoy this so much!!...at this rate I'll be happy 'till Spring...

Up untill I got the white 560, every car I had before that ended up needing front or rear calipers. I've had good lukc with most of the ones since then.
