Hrm, interesting. Maybe the altitude these are taken at makes a big difference? Here in Texas it's pretty low...
I also noticed that one seemed to shift early on one of the shifts, around 3700rpm or so. |

Also, it appeared 0-30 started a bit fast, eh? Looks like a rolling start, I'd say. But, the car was still at WOT, and shifting at 4600 vs 4800 rpm shouldn't account for much difference in performance. The only videos I have of SDL's are my own and that one. No one else seems to have the proper equipment to capture and post their own digital video clips for older Merc diesels. Here's an '87 300D with a disconnected KD solenoid switch that I had to "manually" shift. http://i1.zvhost.com/1/d/d7bhx191.jpg Scoots pretty well, but I will admit to a slight favorable grade. |
My kickdown switch does not work either (two free ones from the boneyards were broken too  ), so it stays in 2 until it shifts then I move it back to 3.
Perhaps I'll invest in a cheap digicam that can record video. I haven't driven Karl in three weeks now thanks to a vacuum pump that is going bad :( |
