i used to

be hard on brakes. til i changed about a hundred sets of pads, then one day a light lit up....let off the gas sooner.

and since then i change them a lot less. rotors too.

regarding your fictional courtroom... a lawyer will say "he who acts as his own attorney has a fool for a client".

I like to play so I guess I gotta pay. I can't be going as fast as I want even if the cops weren't around. Laws of physics dominate still.

Oh well, if you can't interrogate yourself and award yourself money, you cannot get the 10 mil. Hey, for that sorta money, I will do many things.

I'm really hard on my brakes a lot too, but I still have 60% of my front pads left after driving over 17k on them so far! (OEM Pads on ATE Powerdiscs) Makes me happy :D Rear ones were redone by me due to warping (old ones were not even a year old, they warped after a couple months and I lived with it a long while), new ones have not warped after months and about 4k miles. Problem solved. I hope those ones last forever.

when i put on my brakes gently

i think of the rubber bushings in my suspension, my motor mounts, my rotors, my pads and my tires all thanking me for not abusing them so that they can live to a ripe old age, like i plan to.

i used to actuall y enjoy changing pads so much it seemed like fun to change them. now i still enjoy the sense of accomplishment when the job is done... made sweeter by the fact that i drove x miles on them (a lot).

oh yeah, you save fuel too.
