eBay again

Check this out, someone on eBay is trying to sell old style primer pumps for 616/617 engines based on saying they are better for SVO, WVO, and bio-diesel. I wonder how long they've been trying to unload these?

yeah , sounds like WWW.**************.com ..............they would be hard pressed to prove to me how that is better than the new one.....most of their stuff is cheaper if you buy direct....compare their shipping charges and opening price to their site price and shipping charges....you pay more on Ebay...

"We have heard reports that the newer primer pumps will not work correctly when not used with regular diesel. However, we cannot warranty these pumps for lengthy periods if used with Bio-Diesel or Veggie Oil. They may prove to leak over time."

Well, doesn't a new style pump run pretty much the same risk of leaking? Or are they trying to say the new style pump won't even prime with WVO?

Makes me question their reputation.

I think they are saying that the new pumps don't work with SVO/WVO/BD, but the old pumps do (I have no idea if that's true). However, they are also saying the old pumps tend to leak (which is true). It sounds like they had a bunch of old pumps left and decided to market them to the WVO crowd.

I've been running the Updated pump for almost 2 years...on B20....no signs of leaking yet....the old style was leaking like a sieve....

I can't imagine how/why the new pump would be a problem with BD (especially B20). I don't know about WVO with the new pump, but I haven't hears any complaints here.

I think someone bought up a big lot of them and now has to come up with a marketing scheme to get rid of them....particuolarly since you can buy updated BOSCH pumps for $10....of a better design made with better materials...

Oh..they aren't selling defective goods......but they are trying to sell an obsolete pump at prices triple what you can buy an updated style for....that is a big difference...the old pump works....just not as well.

I bought an updated one myself but what I'm attempting to convey is that I believe that they truely believe the updated one is less suitable for veggie and aren't making it up to get rid of the old style ones....

How do you determine that if both work?

I don't know I'm not running veggie yet I'm not convinced that the new style pump won't work, But I take Kent Berghsma/************** to be a reputable business and am glad there are folks like him and the folks at Fastlane that can provide parts for kooks like me to try to cobble one of these cars back into running order. Maybe the spring in the new style pump doesn't work as well with a more viscous fuel? who knows? The old style pump as I recall isn't spring loaded but the return stroke occurs by pulling up on the handle...just guessing out loud....nothing to back the guesses up...
