You guys I'm new to the benz thing but love the car!!! What is a ALDA

The ALDA is a device on the injection pump which senses the pressure or vacuum in the manifold and, when you floor the go pedal, it doesn't allow the injection rack to go to maximum fuel squirt position until the turbo has built up enough pressure to burn all that fuel, thus avoiding a lot of unpleasant black smoke in the exhaust. Most M-B cars delivered in the US came with them set very conservatively and a little wear makes it even more so, which is why there are so many threads on the theme of "tweaking your ALDA." Tweaking won't gain you any more absolute maximum horsepower, but it will do wonders for low RPM throttle response. One must proceed carefully in accordance with the wisdom accumulated by searching the past posts thoroughly, however.
