Request help. Why didnt't this CV Joint Spyder fail or make noise(see pics)?
Please disregard the bad swipe with a grinder; I misjudged the spyder geometry when cutting the can. I cut all three others perfectly by working upwards against the can bead.
The question I am asking is just how bad a CV Joint can wear before it fails. The indentation from the ball actually looks worse than it really is. When you run your finger down the sleeve, you can feel an indentation but its is not as massive as you think it is. Could it be that this spyder is actually reusable? http://mywebpages.comcast.net/snow7ice/a.JPG http://mywebpages.comcast.net/snow7ice/b.JPG http://mywebpages.comcast.net/snow7ice/c.JPG http://mywebpages.comcast.net/snow7ice/d.JPG |
i dont now how much
wear is allowable and still reuse.
the place that the spider contacts of course will wear and make an indentation that is visible and feelable, but the human hand is pretty sensitive. not much can be felt readily. are you thinking of reusing your spiders and just lubing and rebooting? not having specs i guess if the play was the thickness of paper but not a business card i would try it. tom w |
