It takes 20 minutes to change the aux water pump. Takes much longer to earn enough to pay for it. - Even the good deal from Fastlane.

I have a 12v pump of undisclosed origin that I want to put inline to control the flow of coolant thru a parallel/series (via switches) veggie heat exchanger.

That would accomplish the necessary coolant flow that the aux water pump provides as well. Sounds like it would be a good idea, but you might as well remove the non functioning aux pump as it probably restricts flow some what when inoperable. I say this because when I changed mine recently, I noticed that the impeller was completely frozen, which probably impedes coolant flow.

What he said.
Yes, it can be replaced, but leaving a dead pump in the line will restrict flow.
