I got a group 24 for my Chevy truck at WM for ~$58. Its 1000CA, 875CCA , 3 year free replacement and 9 year prorated warranty. That's hard to beat. The battery also came with top and side terminals which is useful to me because my truck has a combination of both terminals. With all the extra wires for the 2 battery parallel connections and the extra wires for the plow lift motor, the side (GM mark of excellence LOL) terminals just don't hold up.

are you sure about that peh? supposedly johnson controls makes the group 49 battery also in the everstart brand which is only sold at walmart?
anyhow AZ or Sears is the same battery. maybe the best deal for us is at AZ along with their warranty...
personally i would more comfortable purchasing from AZ or sears...
i have a die hard int'l in there now 4 years old .. no problems yet...

84300DT,

I asked at Walmart and was told they didn't sell group 49 batteries.

If the Sears and AZ batteries are the same, why pay a lot more for the Sears battery?

i'm going to check our local walmart after the holidays (it's madness in there now).

AZ vs Sears. surely wouldn't make sense to pay any more ...

only reason i have the sears die hard in mine is
my son had the car in florida 4 years ago and needed a battery. the sears shop was the closest ....

Boys and Gals,

I went into AutoZone (AZ) today. Seems like their battery prices went way up since I last looked at them. Their best batteries were about $79+. That's about $20 more than an equivalent Walmart battery with 1 year less warranty.

AZ didn't have any group 49 batteries on the rack, so I don't know what they cost now.

AZ had Mobil Synthetic Delvac engine oil on the shelf in gallon jugs: $30.36, that's $7.59 a quart. Truck and SUV oil is available at Walmart for about $3 less a quart but you have to watch for sale. AZ rarely has good prices on engine oil.

Very odd...on their website and in the store the group 49 is listed as 69 dollars with a 8 dollar core charge.

7 year warrenty..

Their oil is almost always expensive...I usually get it elsewhere. BI-MART around here has good deals on oil...when they have enough of it

84300DT,

Maybe someone can check at another AZ store and find out what a group 49 battery costs.

All I bought was a drive belt for the alternator on my Chevy Diesel PU truck. The last time I looked, the belt was wrapped around the fan.

I got mine day before yesterday and it was 69 bucks...

Store to store differences perhaps?

Having to shop from store to store to get a deal at the same store is bs haha...

I bought mine in Oct for $65 or so.

Autozone and Pepboys are expensive when it comes to oil. Walmart is the best place to go, $20 for five quarts of Mobil 1 is the best price I have found.

I just buy wax and rags from Autozone/Pepboys thats all their good for.

Hatterasguy,

I like Auto Zone. If I don't get parts online, I usually get them there. They have a line of lifetime warranty tools at lower prices than Sears.

When I needed a caliper for the 300SD in a hurry, AZ got one for me overnight. It was only about $6 extra for the overnight service.

AZ is the best place to buy a group 49 battery but not other size batteries.
