The 1985 was originally bought by actress Dianne Ladd (she played in the sit-com Alice, co-starred with Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation, was also at one time married to actor Bruce Dern). All of the service papers, invoices and work orders from the dealer with her signatures were in the trunk along with the original addressograph card. I already checked the seats to see if her daughter Laura Dern sat there.
The 1983 didn't have such an illustrious past. It was owned by a stock broker.

Mine was first leased by the infamous "Whitey Bolger" Boston crime syndicate out of Charletown, Ma. "Home of -armored car- Robbery" There are pools of dried blood still in the trunk! Second lease was a lawyer out of New Hampshire..left lots of paperwork indicating how he cheated people!..I was the first private owner!

from what i can tell, the car was owned by one person and never had been smoked in or sat in in the back. it was parked outside and not waxed enough. the second(my guesstimate, i have the old style VIN that carfax cannot check) owner was a jeweler in hueytown, alabama(home of davey allison...woohoo?) and was not a very good one by the bank receipt that i found under the seat 13 dollars in his account at the time and he actually shopped at jc whitney!! at least for the repair manual he did.

it was then traded to a ford dealership and sold to a local shyster used car dealer here in birmingham.

when i looked at the car, he told me someone else was coming to pick it up the next morning and that if i wanted it, i'd be there when he opened...

the car then belonged to a local artist. i can only assume this because of the huge ammount of sketchpads, pencils and art supplies that can be seen cluttering its interior

he is planning on having the car painted pink in 8 years because his 8 year-old niece has specified that she wishes to drive a pink mercedes. he cant say no to her

A 180D.....History???
We don't need no stinking history at this point.

It makes history each time I can get it to start, as far as I care.

After going through the record book apparently my W115 was sold in North Dakota in 1974 and then apparently serviced at numerous places throughout the country, Montgomery, Alabama, Lompoc, CA, and Santa Barbara. Not sure what happened between the original owner and the PO who lost the records. I got it last September here in LA.

The 6.9 has a more star appeal. It was owned by movie writer Kevin Jarre who wrote the Mummy, screenplay for Glory, Rambo II , and my favorite recent western....Tombstone.

That's weird. Our 85 was sold in CA and found it's way up here and yours was sold in ND and found it's way to CA. I think it's about time those cars settle down.

The 86 SDL was originally delivered to MB in Palm Springs, CA then shipped to Rasmussen MB (sic) in Portland, Oregon to a Dr. Nedderman. The good Dr. later was assigned to SLC Utah and then took a job in 1999 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, TX. I met the good Dr in 2001 and always admired his car as I had a 81 300D at the time. In 2002 the Dr. went to trade the SDL for a newer S Class. The MB dealer in Temple offered him $1600 trade for his then 202,000 mile SDL. He sold it to me for $2000. The car was always MB maintained, there is +$25K in reciepts over the years. The only non funtioning item on the car is the LED outside temp panel on the cluster.
Now the SD is a wild story and just don't have the time to type that one out

It's a total slug on the road. Fortunately noone's trying to kill me for it... I think all contenders are slipping on the trail of slug slime that it must be leaving down behind.

My '84 300D is an Austin Car. It was owned for most of it's history by a older lady in Austin. It was then sold to an engineer who worked with me. One day he asked me the best way to sell off his old car (his wife wanted something newer)

I'd alway's wanted wanted one, so I told him he just did. He also had a 87 190DT he sold that a year later (I bought that one too)

I took it to Ben's workshop in Austin and they had a file on the car with it's maintainace history.

As far as I know my 240D was bought new by a Benz ga$$er mechanic who owned it until so time in the 90s. He sold it to a minister. And it was maintained by the Benz ga$$er mechanic. The minister was married and his wife was a reporter for THE ORLANDO BUSINESS JOURNAL. Were my Mom was the editor and chief. They sold the car to my mom about 2 years ago “$750” and that is when I found www.peachparts.com. A little over a year ago my mother moved to West Palm Beach
and, decided to give me the car because it was not cost-effective for her to have a mechanic maintain the car in south Florida. Since I was for all practical purposes her mechanic. If any one down there reads the Palm Beach Post my mothers name is Pat Beall. She has made the front page many times

Mine started out in ORE. new from Rasmussen to a business, I'm thinking the owners wife, all service records have her name on them. Full records for the first ten years ... almost no miles. Then she moved to N. NJ and sold it around late 90's. Don't know about the 2nd onwer but it stayed in north jersey. Then to a delaer for 2 years .... obviously driven but not sold until 2003 to the guy I bought it from. He had receipts from the delaer owner before him and the few he had.
Oddly the original "pink slip" was in the paperwork and the licence plate was "TAURUS" in ORE back in 81 .... guess she was into horoscopes but then again it was the age of disco and I was still in high school.
The car was obviously taken care of, the interior is flawless. The paint is original and just starting to show signs of slight cracking in the back pillar.
When I got it I cleaned out under the seats and did find the usual change and a safe deposit key .... maybe someones stash of gold bullion?? yeah right.
No famous PO but maybe a friend of a famous person rode in it once??

My 300D was found on a tote-the-note used car lot 7 years ago. Originally sold in Houston. The original owner was a little old lady who had gone into a nursing home, so her kids sold the car. Like a dumbass, I forgot to make a copy of the original title before I registered it in my name. A copy of that title with name matching the original warranty plate would have been solid proof that it was a one owner car when I got it. Had 97k when I got it, now just turned 200k. Very solid car. At the current rate of accumulating mileage, I imagine this car will outlast me.

My 240D Euro turned up in the Dallas Autotrader one day. I had just bought a 240D manual, so I didn't need another one. I mentioned it on here, and Dieselpower (Brian) picked it up. He kept it for a year or so, and all of a sudden traded it in on a Prius. He posted that fact on here, and I quickly beat feet over to the Toyota dealer and bought it. Not much known about the history of it, except that an oil change sticker and some paperwork show that it was in East Texas, around Cedar Creek Lake. Non working odometer showed about 200k and now about 25k on the replacement odo, so true mileage is unknown, but I would guess about 350k or so.

my 83 300SD was bought at ******** in burligame CA, and lived in sebastapol CA for all of its life by the original owner. The owner later worked for a bio-diesel plant and kitted the car with a wannabe greasel kit. Engine was taken care of by a big diesel enthusiest. So i know my car was in good care for all of its life!
