You get less boost because much of the boost pressure is vented through the broken hose.

No this is not the case.

Take the hose off...and you will see that it makes a volume of air well surpassing the leak presented by the little hose...and also it is now unregulated so you get TONS of boost.

Had my wastegate hose pop off once due to mismatched fittings...and I got an easy 28+psi boost just driving around

The turbo moves massive volumes of air...a little leak like that doesn't mean much...espically when you are talking about no working wastegate...
