delayed headlight

When I turn the light switch on my 300d it usually takes 1-2 secs until the lights go on. This is weird already but this morning (it was very cold!) the lights went on and off until the car was warm. Would this be a sticky relay and where is it located?

I've seen this b4.
there is no relay involved in the 123. I believe its grease in the switch that drags on the contacts that causes them to delay making contact - likely it needs a new switch if its going on and off.

" takes 1-2 secs until the lights go on"

This happened with my "79" 240D last winter. I figured it mighta been because I ran over wattage bulbs in my 7" euro headlights for several months. Maybe partially toasted something?

"grease in the switch that drags on the contacts that causes them to delay making contact"... Hummm... that sounds likely. I have one on stand by anyway.

Different current supply circuits (fused circuits)for both sides I believe so I would change the switch as well. If not hard to remove and if you want a pretty good test. Remove switch and toss it in the deep freezer for an hour or so. Reinstall, your delay should be even longer if it is the switch in my opinion. You do have the normal lighting set up? When people convert to higher wattage bulbs an aftermarket relay is sometimes introduced ..

I believe it's the normal setup because there is hardly any light
I guess I just 'switch the switches' between my two Benz's, that'll prove it. Thanks guys!
