1987 300D Glow Plug Relay

Hello all,

I have an 87 300D turbo and the first time I glow it in cold weather (without the block heater), I usually wait until I hear the click of the relay shutting off...about 60 seconds. It starts and runs very smoothly only for about 15 seconds because there is no "afterglow" built-in to the relay. Then it runs rough...bah!

If I shut it off and try again, the relay shuts off after only about 15 seconds, and the second start isn't any better than the first. I hate to have it run rough for fear of ruining the engine....

When I plug the block heater in at night, it starts and runs great...

Now to the question...If I purchase a new glow plug relay for this car, will it have the "afterglow" feature or will I be getting the same relay as I have now?
