Possible new CD for me

Here's a pic of a 78 300CD at the city auction today. Supposedly has 51880 miles on it. yeah, that's what I thought too. Here's the VIN 12315012001084, so maybe if I do get it, I'll see if someone can run a Carfax on it. The last one I got, turns out I'm the second owner, so maybe this one too? With all the stuff on it, it sort of looks like it's been sitting for quite a while. I have no idea if that's supposed to be green or blue..
Man, I've got this MB diesel bug bad... But not as bad as some.

Looks like the light green...How could that mileage be correct however...Have you heard it run..I have a CD also and when I bought the car it seemed fairly clean but as I looked further there was rust in many different places that were not first obvious. Hence I would inspect carefully as repairing rust is a time consuming task. Just finished mig welding the area behind below the battery box which at first didn't seem too bad and by the time I finished cutting away the rusty metal there were big holes to the inside of the car...

Looks like a great project. If you have the flex to work on it as time allows and not have to depend on it for transportation, it can be a blast. I look forward to the "after" pictures!

That car is too old for Carfax. They only go back to 81 or 82.

That car has no turbo, and has the dreaded climate control servo, which is probably busted. From the looks of that picture, I wouldn't give more than $500 for it.

Sold,, but not to me

Well, I did indeed look at it. It sold for $125.00. I wouldn't have given $75. It didn't have the great looking 55k miles,, more like 550k. Holy cow, the dreaded half million miles. It had rust, and what looked like tree sap in the pic, turned out to be the paint peeling. Oh well, no CD for me this time.
