My sunroof had a stripped nylon gear in the slip clutch assembly. I think the previous owner tightened it up quite a bit to keep it from slipping (the purpose of the thing) and it didn't last long. The motor was good.
The dealer couldn't sell me the gear, and wanted hundreds for a new motor. I found a 126 motor, which was somehow backwards from the one I had, removed the nylon gear, rebuilt what I had, and life is good. About a $25 repair. Ben |

I'm getting some bearing noise out of my P/S pump in the cold. The fluid is a nice clean green and its not that loud so I'm leaving it for now.

I've never had a sunroof that was not manual. I like the manual and have no experience with a power one.
I know of a w113 with 675,000 miles that has never had a problem with the power steering pump. They are solid but there is a little preventive maintenance for some of them.

I too turn the engine over with that nut when I adjust valves but I also remove the injectors first so I have no compression to fight. I got used to pulling and checking the injectors and recording a compression test at the time of a valve adjustment. Every shaft that was in our shop for repair was due to the owner honking down on it while on a compression stroke. The lucky ones only rounded the nut by using cheapo tools. |

27mm socket...1/2 drive ratchet or breaker bar...golden
Every time I think the 300SD has low compression...I usually have to do some service and turn the engine over by hand like that...reminds me that its in better shape than I thought |
