It really doesn't belong here, but you must see it.

I saw this one on Ebay yesterday, and thought certainly some one would post it somewhere, but I haven't seen it. It's old, it's unique and you can see some early VW style in it. Wasn't Dr. Porsche working with Mercedes in the mid thirties. But it is really rare and different and the pictures are not too bad. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/62266052_W0QQitemZ4597664575QQcategoryZ6315QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It's a total disaster, but what an interesting find. I have read that the "H" deliniation is meant for rear-engined vehicles, but you never see them. That looks a lot like an old VW bug to me also. This car is so old and 1predates the first injection pumps.

Speaking of it, has there ever been a mass-production rear-engined diesel vehicle?? Even small numbers? Perhaps there is some obvious example I am not realizing.

In my opinion someone should restore this kind of vehicle. It's cool and bizarre for a MBZ. Some money should be well spent on very rare older vehicles.

The tires and wheels on the Rolls look so wrong.

I've seen pics of that Mercedes somewhere before. I must look in my books....somewhere....

The 130H -170H was a POS when it first debuted in 1934. According to my source, it handled poorly, and was underpowered. Not to mention ugly.

The 130H sported a rear-mounted 26 hp 3 cylinder engine. Heck, my Craftsmen twin plug has 25 hp, even though it is 21st century technology.

2/3's of the vehicle's weight was in the rear so the handling was hardly passable.

if i remember

correctly it was designed by ferdinand porsche.

never sold well. too different. folks werent used to rear engines.

they said that the rear engined auto union cars handled poorly and were difficult to drive but i read that one driver felt they were relatively easy to drive once you figured out what to do.

bet that little benz was the same way.

Are those seats heated, or just cooled?
