EGR blocking plate kit #3

Due to several requests, I will again offer an EGR blocking plate kit to allow all owners of 617 and 603 engines to completely remove the EGR valve "for testing purposes."

The kit consists of:

1) intake plate made from .125" stainless steel
2) (2) SS button head cap screws
3) OE EGR gasket
4) exhaust plate made from .017" copper
5) tube of copper sealant good for 700°F.
6) Detailed set of installation instructions

Here is a photo of the components installed on a 603 engine:

The cost of the kit, including shipping, is $29.00.

So, if you wish to purchase a kit, please send an e-mail to hpcs at csi.com and let me know how many kits you wish purchase. I'll advise of my mailing address in a return e-mail.

Please do not post your desire for a kit on the forum. I need a separate e-mail to keep track of all interested parties.

i doubt it could but if you want your egr to still be their just non functioning cut out a piece of sheet metal the same shape as the part that you screw in but instead of putting a hole in the middle leave it solid that probably will do the same thing with the ugly egr still in place

I was wondering that myself. Over on the Duramax side of the fence, the guy that makes the EGR blocker plates uses fairly thin stainless steel. The bolt holes are like horseshoes, so all you do is loosen the two bolts, seperate the manifold and drop the plate in. Nobody (even dealers most of the time) are any wiser to the mod.

That being said, I'm not at all sure if an emission inspector would notice that the EGR is missing, but by the pic above, it is fairly obvious that 'something' was once there...

no not really. it could be an entry point ala the the twist top on the rad hose by the brake booster. ya suppose the shiney new bright metal might be a giveaway?

I thought I'd add a few things here for those who may be considering doing this soon. Firstly, that silicone sealant needs at least 3 days in these cold temps (single digit lows, highs in the 20s) to cure completely. Many people here may already know that, but I'm sure many others don't. Secondly, at least on the OM617.951, getting that clamp back on definitely needs the usage of channel lock pliers. I tried and tried and tried to get it done without it and I just couldn't get it properly done. Just some tips. With the lock pliers, it took me less than 5 minutes to complete. Otherwise, it is a great idea to do this if you can, not just to clean up the look of the engine but also to stop that valve from dumping junk into your intake. I just completed mine this evening.

You certainly can do this. However, I don't think the $29.00 cost of the kit is worth it if you are simply going to keep the valve in place. A $.25 piece of sheet metal would accomplish the same thing.

Went to pickup the EGR gaskets at the dealer today. Ordered them five weeks ago.

No gaskets. No reason why. No follow up by the dealer during the five weeks. Thank you very much.

My brother is now the "operations manager" there............so...........I've got some leverage.

Ordered another set of 30 today. Hopefully arrive on Tuesday.

Sorry for the delay.
