Looking for W115 in decent condition
Hi All,
Well, I'm not sure what's happening with the car I was supposed to pick up. Last week it wouldn't start and now I can't get the seller to tell me the status of it. I'm figuring that I won't get, either there is something really wrong with it, or who knows. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6330&item=4614413924 So, I'm looking for a W115 300D in decent condition. Looking for good interior, no rust and good mechanically. I also need it to be within 750-800 miles of Denver. 1975 or 1976. I'll drive to pick it up. Can anyone help? Please? Anyone? Bueller? Thanks, Ginny in Denver |

Nice place to meet people and buy cars here, huh?
I hope it works out. I used to have a '76 300D it was a nice car. I still drive a '72 220 (gasser) and love the lil thing. 115's can be very useful and enjoyable vehicles. Only thing I still don't care for are the darneed oil filter cannisters DDH

I would have somebody look at the car with 68k after finding out if it is in your price range. Perhaps even a member of this site if he or she lives close might do it for you. You do not come across cars of that vintage with real low miles everyday. If their first impressions are good then have a major check done. A true 68k car is worth even paying to have a good mercedes mechanic check it out to verify that it is the real thing. Plus he would change anything he saw with your approval for the trip home. The one thing you cannot install in an older car is low total miles. Might just be a new fanbelt or something minor required if anything. Why risk your money otherwise? I think there are still a fair amount of 115 diesels out there in pretty good condition. Just takes a bit of time to find them. Time well spent by the way. Hunting the car you want is part of the hobby. Why not land up owning a car you really like plus the true low milers are worth the time locating as they stand out in a crowd for starters. Just my two cents worth. Start the ball rolling by giving sam a call. ///Not required to start a new thread everytime your situation changes by the way. Your own interests and others are actually helped by keeping the one thread going until a succesful conclusion or the issue or it dies out naturally at it's own pace. That way people following it will be better informed and it also works for you too. Just a thought.
