Thanks guys, I'm going to clean it and put it up tonight.
The truth is, I'm driving a 2001 Audi 2.7T 6-speed (270hp) and I just love the damn thing... If I sell this E300, I can always get another in the future. |

As nice as Turbodiesel keeps his cars I wouldn't pay a nickle more than 8K for ANY car with 250K on the clock. Too much of a chance for major issues. Lots of nitwits on Fleabay though, it should do well. Best of luck, RT

$10K, My Guess

Here is a 203K 1997 E300D that went for $7500. It's a non-turbo though. I thought it would go for more! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mercedes-Benz-E-Class-E300D-BLACK-97-MERCEDES-E300D-E-CLASS-DIESEL-non-TURBO-NICE-LR-TDi_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6335QQitemZ4603186302QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW |

Damn. From the look of those pics, I'd say that the buyer of that 1997 E300D got a good deal, provided he/she didn't run into undisclosed unpleasant surprises which is what eBay is known for. All it takes to get the sale price for an item on eBay or even at any auction, to be inflated is the presence of two or more parties very interested in it. If Turbodiesel lists his car and gets such an audience, he will get over $10K for it. Otherwise, it may not even get close to $8K. We'll see. I wish him all the best. I remember the auction from which he bought the car very well and the car looked great. All he has to do is present the car well just like Herbert did in the original auction and he should get some interested blood flowing.

I Was Wrong!
I'm really glad I am wrong about the value of the car. It is now $11K with 5 days to go. Go, GO, GO. Now I think it may go to $14K as others have predicted. Good luck.

While your question is a very logical one, some people may be more particular about things such as color of the vehicle and pay more for one with the color they desire, even if it does have twice the mileage. Additionally, the fact that one has service records to back it up kind of compensate a bit for the higher miles. Indeed, it would be a tough choice, but for some the additional thousands of dollars for the lower mileage one may be a strain on their wallets they may not want. But still, it would be a very tough choice, especially if you're the winning bidder on the higher mileage one before the lower mileage one crops up! But that's not the case here. The lower mileage one was listed before the higher mileage one. So anyone bidding on the latter clearly decided to go for it over the former.

There is only one serious bidder.
He has decided that he wants the vehicle and he's $6K above the second bidder. He's made the reserve of $11K. There will be no other bidders. The final price will be: $11,000. Hope he's legit. |

I wouldn't be so sure. A savy ebay'r would never bid until the last few seconds, unless they are fishing for the reserve price. $12,551.99

Well the high bidder called me two days ago, wanted to buy it now for what he bid, $11,000.. I told him I'd like a little more to sell it right now. Should I call him back and tell him SOLD! or let it ride out??
