87 300SDL exhaust flex coupling- where to buy?

The flex coupling between the two exhaust manifold sections in my 87 SDL is broken... Leaking gasses and such into the engine bay and later into the cabin.

Where does one go about purchasing a replacement, and what is the proper term to describe the part?

Thanks!

You talking about the ones with the two clamps that bolt to the head or the donut gasket on the piece to the turbo? Either way I have both...

That thing is a real PITA to do. It's pretty common for the connector to develop hairline cracks that later spread, until the entire connector cracks in two and you get a real sooty engine compartment. Set aside some time for this project - it's not fun disassembling half the exhaust manifold with the engine in the car.

Yeah I have that, PM me for more info. My parts car's EGR was plugged shut.

Also, is that the original oil cap on there?

Question

Can anybody give me some tips on how to replace this flex pipe? Which section of the manifold is easier to get off and how?

You'll need to unbolt both sections of the manifold... this isn't a fun job. The inner pipe goes inside each section, the outer corrugated section is separate. I used red RTV when I put it together but I don't know if it does any good or not. I don't have any leaks with the two new pieces, though.

Post small flex pipe between the exhaust manifold sections

I am looking for the small flex pipe that goes between the two exhaust manifold pieces. Mine is cracked. Having a fun time finding one. Any ideas as to where to find one. I am in the process of replacing the head gasket. The exhaust manifolds and the intake is off of the car. I would like to find one before I put back together.

Thanks in advance

I got mine from the dealer for $21.

Still haven't replaced it, as I hear it's a total pain in the posterior.

best bet is from dealer. It is a piece of cake if you have the head off. If not then it is a royal PITA. I have done it both ways.
