Window Washer Reservoir??

Greetings,

The window washer/head light washer reservoir next to the battery on a W126 has two metal lines exiting the top cap and connecting to lines that run through the firewall toward the cabin.

What is the purpose of these lines and where do they go? THANKS!

Coolant lines, to keep the fluid heated. Kinda unnecessary, with -32+ rated fluid and heated nozzles.....

Those little tubes have hot coolant from the climate control/engine going through them.

OK, that makes sense but must have totally confused the previous owner who filled the reservoir with antifreeze. THANKS!

You are aware that you must clean and flush the system after antifreeze.

The previous owner may not have added antifreeze, the heating coils are known to corrode through = antifreeze in the windshield washer tank.

I don't know anything about 126's, but is it possible for coolant to leak into the washer reservior?

the previous owner may not have filled it with antifreeze, there is a little plastic thermostat on the coil that has a tendancy to leak, when it does it will leak antifreeze into the washer bottle, make sure the thermostat isn't leaking, mark the level with a marker and drive the car or pressurive the cooling systen, if the thermostat is leaking the water level will rise.
if it is it can be replaced seperately, it is mercedes number 126-830-07-84, when it leaks most people bypass it, but i think it should be repaired correctly

I have removed and flushed the reservoir and pumped alot of washer fluid through the lines. The heating coils appear good as well the thermostat but I'll know something is wrong if the level rises and/or the color changes... THANKS everyone!

BTW antifreeze on the windshield of a car is very hard to get off and will often leave you with a forever rainbowed windshield.

Consider an evil bag trick for people you don't like. :)
