w126 Ignition Switch R&R
Hello,
Does anyone have experience removing the ignition switch on a w126? I need to replace the electrical side of the switch. So far, I have disconnected the negative battery cable, removed the panel below the steering wheel, removed the instrument cluster, removed the allen bolt holding the ignition assembly to the steering collar, removed the 2 bolts holding the steering collar to the bracket and disconnected the two vacuum lines from the ignition assembly. Something is still holding the ignition assembly to the steering collar. The key is turned to the 1 position. Is there a release pin somewhere holding the switch?

There is a release pin by the collar. Silver color, in the black horizontal extension of the steering column. See it thru the instrument cluster opening, looking down (as I remember). FWIW
