Something is amiss with either the cam timing or the injection timing.

Any possibility that you are out 360 degrees with either the cam timing or the injection timing? It will run under such a condition, but will behave with symptoms just as you describe. Pete did the same thing once, after a complete rebuild.

Be sure that the injection timing is on the compression stroke and not the exhaust stroke.

Verify the camshaft timing with the marks on the tower, or, by the 2mm valve lift method if you have any doubts.
