My MB seat fix
I never liked the front seat in my car. But I loved the rest of it, so I figured I'd get used to it. Wrong. This year was the year I said I would replace those nasty, backbreaking seats with something better. 12 way seats, with lumbar adjustments and heat. One of the better things I've ever done to the car. Still a few details to work out, but you get the jist. Seats are pretty much as I bought them, $250 for the pair, except I put the MB seat belt clips and armrest on. Yes, the armrest is beat, I'll swap in a better one this summer. The pics are here:

Hey if it's something that you like and it works, then that's great. Glad to hear that you found something that works with your back. I've not had much problem with my older original seats, but everyone has a different shape and back. Just had my w113 seats redone with covers from GAHH and repadded by a furniture upholsterer that we use. The original springs were in good shape. They feel great. It's definitely possible to work with the forty year old original seats and make them look factory new, but it can be pricey. . . The cost of restoration of these seats might be comparable to the cost of many a running/driving w123 with "500,000 trouble-free eBay miles" left on it to go.

WOW! you got a smoking deal on those seats! So what are they out of? Are the controls on the base? I have seen really nice volvo seats with all the controls on the base, I never measured them up though. How much customizing did you have to do?

I have to agree with you, the OEM seats are terrible (at least mine were). I replaced mine saab seats which made the car so much more a joy to drive. My seats look totally out of place compared to yours as mine are extremely dark purple mated with an interior that is black and orange. (see the pic in the thread you posted)
Oh well, it's not how it looks, it's how it feels, right?:D |
