Let us know if it is of usual RadioShack "quality"
If its crap I'll pass. If its good...I'll consider poking it away somewhere near my ham radio stuff. |

That's pretty cool. I bought something similar once at Target I think but it didn't have the volt meter.
It would be cool if you could place it above the visor. Danny

id like a small led voltmeter to go in place of one of the blanked out switches on my dash, sort of w211 fuel/heat gauge style.
but then where would i put the seat heater switches? fun headlight adjuster switches and city/country horn switches, huh? so many buttons to pick from, but still no power windows... i like it anyhoo--on topic. the closest one is 13 miles in the opposite direction of my travels today. i may go ahead and pick one up, it'd be nice to get a heads-up before my lights go dim again. an overnight charge lasts over a week, but it never does it in the summer. sorry--hijacking. good deal!

WHunter,
The thermometer/voltmeter sounds like a good deal but there are better choices than the Multimeter displayed. That meter is an old style analog meter. Better choice is a digital meter, expecially for checking resistance of the GP. A digital meter can be had for only a little more than the analog one and is well worth the extra cost. P E H |

I infer that you should have gotten a W210! Mine has both of those features from the factory...

could this item be hard wired? i dont want anymore battery replacements.
i lived for 6 months with an ipod hooked to the becker by way of an fm transmitter(belkin podcast) that needed two batteries every wednesday and sunday. i finally wised up and bought rechargables, but theyre just not cool. a cd player replaced my ipod. its amazing, really. i mean... a 5" completly flat disk that holds 20 songs! they only cost 25 cents, too. anyhoo.. i went an picked one up to keep tabs on my magical mystery battery drain problem, but i dont want wires run all over. the thing will ALMOST fit in the blank space under the speedo and i may pick a spare gauge cluster to see about modifications. i want it to be veneered, with chrome bezels and maybe even brushed metal gauge faces. mmmmm but yeah, itll stick right under the cluster very well, wires can be run under the cluster and to the outside and the lighter plug. i really dont like that plug there all the time. its a fun gadget, yall. i was making it beep and checking the voltage in all our cars whenever i got home dads rams volt gauge lies, too

I went to a radioshack near my house today on the way back from the stealer, and they were all out of them. Oh well. I'll just buy some little thermistors, and a circuitboard/microprocessor/display that fits the cluster........and make my own.... Or not...

Hmm...actually PawoSD thats not a bad idea...I have some schematics here for measuring engine oil temp, water temp, road speed, and other stuff. Its all digital goodies and I should fab them to fit nicely where I don't have an outside temp gauge hehe.
If I end up making something neat, I'll post schematics. But I won't promise anything....the project list is long and I can only work so fast. |
