THF (Tractor Hydraulic Fluid) in SLS?

Hello,

I've done some research into which fluids I can use in the my SLS, but I can't find any reference to THF. I know I should be using the MB stuff, but I just realized that my resevoir is almost empty. I have no idea where all the fluid went, but I do know that I haven't checked the fluid in a while so i'm not sure if it was a slow or quick leak. The car still seems to ride well though.

Thanks for the help guys!

it may work, i wouldnt use anything but the mb fluid in mine (if i still had one).

there is undoubtably someone who will chime in with the exact differences.

According to a poster over at the buymbparts forum

Here are the approved oils:

Aral 1010
Gasolin 1010
Shell Tellus T17
Shell Aero Fluid 4

The last one you should be able to get from an FBO at your local airport.

The regulation MB hydraulic fluid, Febi/Bilstein, is only $10 bucks. Exactly how much are you hoping to save?

I'm trying to save my pump. I'm at home, I don't have any MB fluid here. All I have is THF. My tank is very close to being empty. I don't want my pump to cavitate.

R Leo has used THF in one of their wagons that had a leak, and drove it for quite some time. I tried it in the Smoker and my hyd. valve started to drip shortly there after. Coincidence? Maybe.......
