i'd care a little bit more if, well... i cared about extending my cars life. it was not an expensive car and has 147k on it. at this point, i feel like its on borrowed time as it is, so...

i change the oil, buy good parts and fluids and detail it weekly. its done me fine for the last 20k:) im not sure i need magic fluids to have a well running, well aging automobile.

but...

were i to buy one of these all alloy, consumer-grade diesel cars, i might entertain the idea of babying it. tho i am not sure that a fuel additive could save it from its own shoddy electrical system.:rolleyes:

Actually it would apply to all mechanical IP's. I always add some extra lubrication to fuel, in all my diesels. Not neccessary in the VW though since it's a "Pumpe Deuce" :D

No it doesn't, not all IP's are created equal. VW uses those rotary IP's which need nice slick fuel to lube them. Our IP's are lubbed with engine oil, the only parts that see fuel are the plungers. Their is an argument as to how much wear on those will increase. I suspect little to none.

Notice in that artical they talk about cam and lobe wear. Well mine at least are in a nice bath of Delvac 1 so I don't think LSD will bother them much.:D
