Pressure gauge with "telltale" needle?

Does anyone know of a source for "value priced" hydraulic pressure gauges with a telltale needle? 0-5000 psi.
I'd like to upgrade my injector tester.

Is there a better name for the red needle that shows maximum obtained value on a gauge, other than "telltale"?

I got one on ebay about 6 months ago...paid like $5.00 for it.....but I'm keeping it for that same reason. I plan to build a POP tester soon.

The other name

VDO boost gauges had a tattle tale needle that showed the max pressure attained since last reset.

My guess is engineer's would call this type of gauge: "Fast Attack / Zero Recovery".

Northern Tool has lots of guages (14 pages!) but not the type you're looking for.
I suggest Grainger.com or McMaster.com

Best Wishes,
Bruce

A brief search turns up "maximum pointer", "lazy hand", and "drag pointer".

OK, a question here, since I'm sort of collecting bits and pieces as opportunities arise. Just how high do you need to be able to go on pressure?

Those are both great places. I'd also recommend MSC.

Mcmaster.com has a "Maximum Indicating" pressure gauge with the little extra needle but its not cheap, about 75 dollars but I could say its most likely a high quality one. Mcmaster-carr rocks, we use them all the time for work. The item number for a 0-5000 PSI gauge is 3842K5. Just go to Mcmaster.com and put the item number in the search window on the left and it'll bring you up to the catalog page which is 516 anyway. They have these gauges in 0-15 PSI all the way to 0-10,000. Eric.

Thank you all very much. I should have thought of McMaster since I just ordered some little antenna belts from them. I appreciate the help.

Seems like a lot of different names for the "telltale". I found , also.

Eskimo,
You want a gauge that sorta' centers around 2000-2200 psi for the turbo injectors. Gauges tend to be most accurate around their mid-point.

Thanks. Looking at the ranges typically available, I had been thinking of using a 0-3000 PSI gauge for a little better resolution.

The injector tester in our shop is a Bachrach brand and the guage goes up to 5000 pounds. We picked up our tester at an auction sale for $75 with the attatchments. We got it cheap because the rest of the people there didn't know what it was. You guys keep your eyes open every once in a while one will show up in the strangest place.
