Are you talking about the old military air base west of Miserable Wells? If so, it's still there. I went by there a few weeks ago. Seems like all those hangars would be good warehouse space. Hmmm......, maybe great workshops for MB's.

If yall are talking about Eduardo the brown W116 300 SD I bought from Aaron Greenberg in Cleveland, I sold that car a few years back before the seats went through the floor. The new owner never changed the registration into his own name and the last i heard from the car, it was sitting in a HPD impound lot and I was getting the cards to come and pay for the towing and storage and to come get the car. I didn't of course.

Hey all,

I was browsing the threads and was shocked to see this one! Eduardo was the brown W116 300SD that TXBill bought from me about four years ago. He flew to Ohio and picked her up and drove back to Houston. I've always wondered what became of Eduardo myself!

Eduardo was named after a mechanic I worked with at the MB dealer. He was from somewhere in South America (can't remember exactly where anymore). Anyhow, he loved that car, always wanted to buy it from me but I wouldn't crack, I wanted to drive that thing into the ground. One day, old Eduardo (the mechanic) didn't show up at work and we later on got word that he had dropped dead of a heart attack at his home. In his honor, I named my car after him. That's how the name stuck with the car--and carried on by the new owner (Bill).

Wish I had a digital pic of the car. Still miss it

The old Ft. Wolters is on the east side of MW. It is an industrial park / state park / state prison now, but no airfield. MW airport is kind of on the south side of town. The old ponton I looked at was south of the airport which is where the fire was.

Hmmm......, The old air field I was thinking about is closer to Palo Pinto. I've seen it several times, driving by, but there are no markings or signs. If you go to Google maps and satellite or hybrid view it is plainly visible (large white square).

Howdy. That was a pretty fast diesel, yes. I don't know what made it that way except for maybe all of the steel that was missing. I know I left a pretty good size chunk of rusty metal in Greg's driveway one day.

Wow, this thread is turning into old home week!

I haven't seen posts by Bill or Aaron in a long time. Of course, I went a long time without posting myself.

Aaron, once I read your post I remembered when you told about your friend dropping dead and the car, but I did not associate it with the guy in Houston when I started reading the thread. Your list of cars is much shorter. Did you liquidate or just decide to shorten your list. I'm still ready to ride in your convertible to the Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young concert.

Bill, good to hear from you. I don't associate you with your new moniker so I might have been reading zillions of your posts and just not realized it. Why don't you get another pallet load of bottled water so we can have a get together?

Paul, in my mind I associate Weatherford with Mineral Wells.

Everyone, in the early nineties I had a customer whose business was located in the old Fort Wolters which is now an industrial business park. It was kind of freaky. I expected to hear a Huey spooling up at most any time.

I think the fire that was on TV was probably at the MW airport. There used to be a company based there that did a lot of Autopilot and other avionics installation/maintenance. The airport on TV was most definitely an active airport which was easy to tell from the runway markings.
