What ever happened to Eduardo?
Anybody remember?
|
You mean the brown 116 300sd that TX Bill imported from Ohio?
I believe Bill got rid of it because the iron moths were eating it up. I think all those old threads got deleted though. |

Here in the big city, a house a couple blocks away burned last week. Not drought related though. I imagine it was the usual busted heat exchanger. |
Hi palangi you guys need a little of that rain that we have been getting here in califorina. I have been reading the post on line but never post much. Glad to see you and r leo one line.
Hay leo hows that 240d doing? Still have my 2 300sd which have kept me busy fixing. Have a happy new year Bill |

Fire all around the farm...

By the time I rounded-up SWMBO, loaded some shovels and other tools in the pickup, the Milano VFD's tanker was passing by....this had to be at least 20 minutes after I first spotted smoke. It was under control at that point; Gause and Hoyt VFDs were already there. |
I think I remember Eduardo. Wasn't he from the Houston area with lots of 116 a/c questions?
It's dry here as well. If someone flicked a cigarette in my bar ditch, I would be in the midst of flames in no time. The county extension agent says that we are in the worst drought since 1956. Paul, how far are you from the Mineral Wells airport? That was quite a bonfire. Happy New Year, |

Happy New Year to you also. And Randy, Bill is the previous previous owner of Nellybelle. |

Miserable Wells is 1 or 2 counties away, depending on how you count it. I remember looking at an old Ponton diesel basket case out by MW airport a few years ago. I bet that place is probably gone now. I think it was 2 years ago, or maybe 3, a big fire got within about 5 miles. |
My town is protected by a volunteer fire department also, but not to worry. They haven't lost a foundation yet......:D :D
|
Funny thing is, in Parker County, it's the VFD's who sell the fireworks around holidays. I guess they are trying to generate new business.

Bill, Nellybell the 240D is doing great. She's curently my daughter's transportation while finishing her last year in engineering school and is bravely dealing with the geriatric issues that we all have to bear: fan speed control crudded up and only worked on low (or not at all), noisy speedo cable and, a set of subframe bushings are in her future. Otherwise, she's dead solid perfect. She's achieved a certain level of notariety at Trinity U, by being what has to be the OLDEST car in the student parking lot. When Thing Two was still living on campus, Nell would sit literally, for weeks on end, eagerly firing-off after a brief yank of her gorilla knob for the intermittent drives back home. I had some fun the other day when my ex-wife called and needed know how to start and move Nell (Thing Two is taking winter break in Idaho with THing One). My ex has to be the most unmechanically-minded person on the planet and she was needing to start a vehicle with a gorilla knob! This spring, I'm giving Thing Two my W123 Euro 240 as a graduation gift so that I can once again, have Nell all for myself. Nell is a fantastic car, thanks for taking such great care of her. |
Thanks for the info on the 240d I really loved that car glad to see her doing so well. Had to sell her because to many cars and the wife could not drive her because of a back problem, hurt her leg. Did not want her to just sit, cars that just sit just rot away. Any way the wife just finished a rehab in spinal decompression and after 23 years of pain the pain is gone. This is quite amazing. So i mite be in the market for a standard transmission car.
If an body want the info on the back rehab let me know. Bill |

If yall are talking about Eduardo the brown W116 300 SD I bought from Aaron Greenberg in Cleveland, I sold that car a few years back before the seats went through the floor. The new owner never changed the registration into his own name and the last i heard from the car, it was sitting in a HPD impound lot and I was getting the cards to come and pay for the towing and storage and to come get the car. I didn't of course.

That's the one. Didn't that car have legendary perfomance? Ever figure out what made it that way? |
Eduardo was my car!!
Hey all,
I was browsing the threads and was shocked to see this one! Eduardo was the brown W116 300SD that TXBill bought from me about four years ago. He flew to Ohio and picked her up and drove back to Houston. I've always wondered what became of Eduardo myself! Eduardo was named after a mechanic I worked with at the MB dealer. He was from somewhere in South America (can't remember exactly where anymore). Anyhow, he loved that car, always wanted to buy it from me but I wouldn't crack, I wanted to drive that thing into the ground. One day, old Eduardo (the mechanic) didn't show up at work and we later on got word that he had dropped dead of a heart attack at his home. In his honor, I named my car after him. That's how the name stuck with the car--and carried on by the new owner (Bill). Wish I had a digital pic of the car. Still miss it :( |
Heh, didn't see the previous post. Good to hear from ya Bill!!! Been a while!

Hmmm......, The old air field I was thinking about is closer to Palo Pinto. I've seen it several times, driving by, but there are no markings or signs. If you go to Google maps and satellite or hybrid view it is plainly visible (large white square).

Wow, this thread is turning into old home week!
I haven't seen posts by Bill or Aaron in a long time. Of course, I went a long time without posting myself. Aaron, once I read your post I remembered when you told about your friend dropping dead and the car, but I did not associate it with the guy in Houston when I started reading the thread. Your list of cars is much shorter. Did you liquidate or just decide to shorten your list. I'm still ready to ride in your convertible to the Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young concert. Bill, good to hear from you. I don't associate you with your new moniker so I might have been reading zillions of your posts and just not realized it. Why don't you get another pallet load of bottled water so we can have a get together?:) Paul, in my mind I associate Weatherford with Mineral Wells. Everyone, in the early nineties I had a customer whose business was located in the old Fort Wolters which is now an industrial business park. It was kind of freaky. I expected to hear a Huey spooling up at most any time. I think the fire that was on TV was probably at the MW airport. There used to be a company based there that did a lot of Autopilot and other avionics installation/maintenance. The airport on TV was most definitely an active airport which was easy to tell from the runway markings. Have a great day everyone, |
