I currently have the 7" Hella E-codes in my 300D (Which ironically, is a Euro..).. and I was shocked at the difference it made. The DOT headlights are just miserable, compared to the brightness of the E-codes.. which light up the entire road pretty darn well. Heck, I rarely even use my high beams, since the low-beams do the job just fine.

The only complaint I have about the E-codes, is that since they put out more light, and with a different reflection pattern.. they don't appear to be as good in the rain. A good deal of light seems to bounce off the wet roads.. anybody else notice this?

Funny you mention this.

I noticed the exact same thing on the SDL with the Euro headlamps. I took it 400 miles in rain and darkness on Monday (Virginia Beach to NY) and the light output was not very good. I ran the fog lights, simultaneously, for most of the distance. Without good pavement markings (common), it was a bit of an arduous trip.

Thanks to all of you for taking the time to respond. You gave me a lot of choices and some research to do over the next few days. I will get a pair of lights soon.

That is a very kind offer and I would be all over it if I had not decided to sell all my 123 cars. I just need to get some pictures and start trying to sell them.

MTU is offering a really good deal for someone who wants to make some really good lights for the 123.

Good luck,

I believe each of these cars are the final production year for that model.
