That's what happens when you mix a 3 ton hummer and a 3 ounce cell phone..

I feel safe in my 240D, I keep a good eye on the mirrors and am ready to get out of something's way if I have to. It's only the fact that there are more bug guts on the rear window than the windshield that makes me paranoid like that

This is why I love my mercedes

Thats my first 300D (not the one in my sig picture!)

I got hit at 40mph by that 93 gmc. I pulled out in front of him BECAUSE he didn't have his headlights on and the chromed front end made it impossible to see it coming. It happened and I jumped out of my sunroof unharmed. He was unharmed also as he was wearing his belt

So in a matter of one second I totaled my beautiful diesel and got 2 points on my record. 1 for causing an accident and 1 for failure to yield (what *******s).

And yes, we drove it home

Back in the late 80's I saw a 500 or 560 SEC that had been crushed between 2 tractor/trailers. It was a bad interstate accident. 20 or so cars involved. The entire front and rear of the SEC was completely smashed flat. The entire passenger compartment was intact to the point that it was difficult to tell the car had been in an accident. I really could not believe it.

On the other hand... While I was in the Air Force and over in Germany, back in the mid 90's I saw a SL that had been in a solo accident while on the Autobahn. The accident was so bad and the car was so mangled that it was difficult to tell the make, model and even the color of the car!

At 150+ nothing is going to save you. The car is going to break apart, and your DOA.
