I read about that W12 they built. I went to the link. Wow!!!! That shouldn't even be called a car. 200mph / 0-60 in 4.7 sec, absolutely gorgeous interior. I might get in the parking lot, but can't imagine they'd let me in the show room.

1l 1cyl ?

hold on a second, 650cc 1cyl bike engines are known for their "thumpyness"...

I'm trying to imagine a 1l single cylinder.....okay...I'm trying to imagine any engine that displaces more than 1l per cylinder... any to be found on the road ?

I think that Volkswagen is beautiful.

How weird for a diesel to shut itself off at stoplights.

If they used all aluminum and fiberglass instead of carbon fiber and titanium,
it'd probably still get 200 mpg.
Might cause the speed to drop too much though?

Maybe in a few years we'll see that, for about $20,000 ?

If you read the end part of the article, it's only a 300cc, 8.5 HP engine. The 1 liter name refers to the fuel consumption of 1 liter per 100 km.

A decent looking red Continental Turbo R sold for $12k at a big-name auction last fall. I'm no fan of single-digit miles per gallon, but for that car at that price I could make an exception.

Go to your local dealer, ask for a test drive.
Don't have a stroke when they hand you the keys.
WARNING; DANGER:
Once you drive one, they must pry the keys out of your hand, unless you buy it.

I'd pay to watch. And that car looks LAME.

Six others from BMW, GM, and Ford.

8.5 hp. . .
Almost as much hp per cylinder as a 180D.

The race between it and a 240D would be interesting, but a crash between them would be devastating. The 240 probably wouldn't even feel it. You might need to clean the windshield, though.
