ripped ALDA screw
Tried to adjust my ALDA just now, and it must not have been touched for a long while....ripped one side of the top of the screw right off it. Didn't even twist that much before it sheared off.
As of right now, nothing has changed, and if I leave it, my ALDA will remain unadjusted for many years (obviously, if the screw is that old that it shears the top off easily before turning), but can I just replace this screw with another, or is it a specialty type? Thanks, Dunl

Double lock-nut it
If you screw another nut onto the remaining half so that it gets to some real threads, you will be able to essentially lock one nut onto the other, thus allowing you to turn either nut thereby also rotating the shaft and making your adjustment.
this is an old mechanics trick but it's been working on mine and if you have a 603 you can use this method to adjust your ALDA without removing it at all. Hope that helps

i have seen some people install the copper colored seal washers under the alda, this has a the same effect as adjusting it does,doing this leaves the plastic seal cap intact, once the washer is inserted the alda is no longer adjustable until the washer is removed, and the slotted area will break if you try to turn it.
not saying 100% that is what you have, but it is just a thought

Half the head on mine has been missing sense I got the car. I just use pliers to turn it. It should turn easily once the lock nut is loose. I'm sure you can replace the screw if it bothers you. I've never worried about it because I don't need to adjust it very often.
