I got my title!!

finally the good ole state of fl sent me the title to the p/o and she signed off on it and its now mine.. i still have to pay 250$ a month until september but i ca nnow drive it on the road legally.. and on the bad news side my insurance went up to 240$ a month.. anyone know a better insurance company than progressive. i heard state farm gives discounts for good grades

I am surprised that she signed off on it. If you take a loan from the bank or a finance company to buy a car, they will hold your title until you paid off the loan. This is because by having the title you can sell the car. This lady obviously trust you, so do the right thing and pay her off as planned. As for insurance, most insurance companies will charge you the same as you do not have the years of driving experience or reach a certain age which they considered "less risky". The only way to lower your insurance is to "tag" along with your parent's car insurance - this way could save you hundreds of $$ in premium.

after i register the car ill copy the title and such and send the title back to her as we planned.. i need the title so the dmv can get their copy of it for the records.. i also was reading on the title that the cars odometer doesnt show actual milage so im guessing at one point in its life the odometer stopeed working then was repaired since it works now

I have been paying about $200 a month since I was 17. My first car the Toyota was $2,400 a year to insure. The SDL was $2,600, if I bought an SEC it would be a nice even $3k. The SD costs a bit less because I don't carry anything on it, but it still is just under $200 a month.

Just bend over and pay it, I am 20 so I hope it goes down a bit this year. I would kill to pay only $100 a month that would be sweet!

TheDon 01-05-2006 10:32 PM

I think going on your parents' plan is the way to go. My cars are in my name but insured under my mom's and its $140 a month total. I have liability only on the bimmer and full coverage on the Mercedes. It originally was $160 when I first got my license but it went down $20 right before my 18th b-day.:D I don't even want to think about what it would be if the policy was in my name.

i ahve 4 benz diesels and shelter insurance gave me the best deal.

Hatterasguy 01-06-2006 11:23 AM

It also depends on where in the country you are located. Insurance rates very depending on the area.

Insurance gets way cheaper when you turn 25 :D, alot of insurance companies who give good student discounts will honor those after you graduate from college up until the time you turn 25, then watch your rates cut in half, it's so freaking awsome :D.

Hatterasguy 01-06-2006 11:56 AM

Yeah I am looking forward to it!:D Maybe by then W211 E55's will be cheaper, then I'll get those rates back up their!:D
