Question Control Rod Travel Sensor Loose

My control rod travel sensor is very loose and looks to be leaking Diesel Fuel all over the place in my 300TDT W124. When I touch the travel rod sensor the whole unit moves up and down, as well as a copper/brass outer ring with many indentations in it.

Before I get into this tight spot to try and tighten it I would like some input. I'm a little worried because there are many delicate parts around and I'm not sure if I need to remove the intake manifold to tighten this down properly.

Do I need to disconect the three prong conection and will the plastic thumb tab get in the way when I try to tighten it.

Any suggestions are really appreciated.

Many Thanks,
York

Part Number Please

I was able to get everything off with help from a friend without taking the Manifold off. However, this sensor is made from plastic and the threads have stripped and it is leaking oil.

I called Mercedes Parts and they couldn't find it on their computer. Does anyone have the part number for the control rod travel sensor? Also, how do you remove the sensor when you have removed the electrical connection and thumb lock?

And why would they put plastic threads on the sensor on the IP

btw to get the electrical plug off you need to move the thumb tab counterclockwise, best if you have a friend put pressure from the manifold side and you hold the plastic electrical three prong with channel plyers or your bound to break something.

I know it's been a few years since this post, but I have the same issue w/ my -87 300TD IP and before I tear into it, would like to know how you fixed it.
