Please check this "throttle damper" and determine if you have it and whether it's properly functioning. If you have any doubts, block it fully open and drive the vehicle.

It is connected up alright. It wasn't when I got the car and drove it home. As I was working on the car trying to detail and fix the little things I noticed it not hooked up. As I recall it didn't do this at all though before I hooked the vacuum line feed up to it...but it's just a faint recall.

Well, first thing to do, is to disconnect the vacuum line to the valve and plug it. I really don't expect this to solve anything, but it needs to be ruled out. If the EGR valve is leaking all the time, the symptoms could be as described, but, it would need modulation from the vacuum source to start leaking and then stop at a later time.

I am definitely going to try blocking the egr vacuum pick-up, and see if this has a positive effect on this problem. I will give feed back when I find out what happens!

Just wanted to get back on this sudden power loss problem. Running the car with the erg valve disconnected solves the problem. Now, my question is do I need to replace the egr valve or not? If I got caught with it blocked would I be susceptible to a fine or violation for dirtying up the air?
