I would need to look at it to be sure. But something is amiss. Look at the top again.

Had somewhere between 1/4-1/2" of fungus in the bottom of the tube...no wonder my reserve light wouldn't come on.
The copper wires are enamel coated wires that carry the singal (ground on one and the other is switched) for the reserve light.

You'll notice the metal disk contacts the two points at the very bottom where the wires hook to. Both of these must be in-tact and such for the reserve light to work.

I'll be sending you some of that wire as soon as I get your address and how much you need

The trick is to heat the end of it with a match/lighter to burn the enamel off (physical scraping damages the wire). then you Solder it and pray to god that the solder flows with the wire haha. That stuff is a bear.

Sender works

Thank you Brandon for your help on this. I bent the bottom connection for the reserve wire up so that the wire I have would reach. Used lots of braid to clean up the old solder. After that I could see the small piece that broke off wrapped around the hook. Removed the broken piece, gave the end of the wire a bic barbeque to get rid of the enamel and soldered. Good reserve circuit!

BTW the nut on the bottom of the sender is m3. When I managed to lose mine, I just used a regular hex and a lock washer.
