1983 300DT Hard Shift

I just bought a 300 DT with automatic transmission. It is shifting really hard from 1st to 2nd and then shifts really quick into third. I have yet to adjust the throttle pressure linkage as outlined in my Hanes manual. I would appreciate any other help from people in the know. Are these symptoms of a worn out transmission?

1-2 stiff shift is normal, from what I hear. I have been able to smooth out ALL my shifts by adjusting the bowden cable. Then adjust the modulator on the tranny. All this was after tuning my ALDA (highly recommended).

See if your vacuum line is still attached to the transmission....they get loose...your symptoms are a lack of vacuum.
