Think of the joy you must have brought the seller. You boosted his closing price by ~$275!

That's one reason why I thought it was not in the seller's best interest to make a big deal out of accepting PayPal payments, though it's his prerogative to do as he wishes. Alienate the wrong buyer - for whatever reason - and risk getting far less for the item.

Way too much! I've done a online search of various MB wrecking yards and prices for 17 or above # guaranteed heads were $500 to $750.

I don't think I've ever seen a #17 or newer head for less than $800, and for that price, I'd be damned pissed if it didn't come with cam, lifters and prechambers.

It's all for the best anyway, given the current (and future) level of tweaks, my engine really does need the newest #22 head available.

How do you know you need a #22 head and not a #17 head? Does installing a #17 head different from that of a #22 head? Thanks.

He's got the W124 tuned up a bit with an intercooler and some additional fuel so the stresses on the head are that much greater.

A #17 head would fit and would be better than the stock #14, however the best head is the latest revision........the #22. The installation is the same, and for all practical purposes, it would not matter on a vehicle with a standard turbocharged setup with normal fueling.

I think on the #22 head the oil passages were reworked. What difference does it make? I really don't know.

Honestly, I don't remember. I was looking for a spare head back when I was planning to keep my 124. I think I'm finally going to put it up for sale this weekend now that I got all the bugs worked out.
